Mon Guerlain

Wednesday 6 June 2018

Before I jump straight to the point, I would like to tell you a little bit about Guerlain . Just A little bit I promise.

It all began with Pierre-Francois-Pascal Guerlain.
A paefumer, chemist, inventor and researcher, the House's founder settled up his first boutique in the heart of Paris, at 42, Rue de Rivoli. The address quickly became an essential destination for dandies and elegant women. The House's reputation at the courts of Europe peaked when in 1853, for the marriage of Napoleon ||| and Empress Eugenie, Pierre-Francois-Pascal created his Eau de Cologne Imperiale, which he gave to the young bride as a wedding present.

Since then, five successive generations of Guerlain perfumers have held the House's creative reins.
Today, Thierry Wasser is the heir to an olfactory legacy of some 1100 fragrances and the intrepid leader of future projects, exploring the world in search of the most exclusive raw materials.

He actually has a liking for Bulgarian Roses and often travels to source them from our Famous Rose Valley in Kazanlak and Karlovo.
I am going to take you there in my coming travel diaries.

In this post I am going to focus on one particular product, even though I have thousands to talk about, that are just as equally worthy as this one.
Through my search for a signature scents over the years I have learned that having a few products but with good quality  is preferable.
And so without any further a due I introduce you "my Winter" pick , a  sweet scent called " Mon Guerlain"

It is an absolute Christmas in a bottle.
It is a sweet one I am not going to lie, but not in an overwhelming way.

It was highly advertised as a tribute to femininity as inspired by Angelina Jolie.

I am not going to bore you with the poetic descriptions but go straight to the perfume's notes.

Sambac Jasmine, Sandalwood, Vanilla Tahitensin

And of course the 4th note is Carla Lavender, grown in the Provence.

How I feel about this perfume:
Like I said above, the scent really throws me back to Christmas time. When you have sweet vanilla pies and cinnamon cookies. It makes me feel cosier and there is a weird warmth to it. Again from it is a winter perfume. I wouldn't wear it in the summer time. But this is a personal preference. I love how The lavender and the vanilla melt into this weird aroma. Sometime after a couple of hours I would feel the vanilla and other times it would be the lavender but they do not overwrite the other notes.

 Tip:
Perhaps you have already heard this a lot from sales people, but It is True and it Does work.
To prolong the scent of your perfume and for it to feel more natural, combine it with a shower/body lotion routine. That way you also save the amount of perfume you have.
Plus you won't suffocate the people around you.
It is so mysterious when you are just gently wearing it. No need to shower yourself.
A great way to apply it is to spray it in the air in front of you, kind of like a cloud, and just walk through it.
Or my favourite, spray it on your comb and run it through your hair.
