B&W Interior | Nashville

It is a three storey house crush in Nashville, (Tennessee) designed by April Tomlin Interiors.
Featured in Architectural Digest.
Home of a cute couple that certainly have their styles in sync.

It is a super cool feeling when two people are dedicated to bettering their lives together and this house just resonates the purity of this intention, their gentle and deep connection and respect for each other. The masculine and feminine elements of the house are really well balanced too.

What I love about the interior is that it is airy and light, and it sort of welcomes you to the outside forest scenery. Even the windows are as almost framing the view, which adds to the whole serene experience. It wouldn't be hard to destress as they are not many shouting colours or patterns, but this does not mean the interior is lacking detailing.

Nevertheless it is my epitome  of minimal, open retreat for the senses. its simplicity gives opportunity for  focus on oneself. As both of them stated " It is not the house and the interior that should be loud but its occupant's lives" The home certainly reflects both of theirs very successfully.

I love how the deep dark elements create a perfect contrast with the view outside and you can still see the details of the setting.

They are not many colours mainly and it makes it easier to see the shapes instead, which I think was their main focus and intention in the design.

It is so cool and funky how they opted out for different chairs and broke the formal unity of the idea for a dining table.

The kitchen has a very earthy feel with wood and metal detailing, warm and simple. And we can also their B&W picture frames leading like an arrow to the next space.

Notice how different shapes and materials sneak from the corner . The mixture of different wood and the open hall ceiling just add to the overall balance .

Fireplace in the bedroom is always a good idea for some warm and cozy moments.

Floating bed, as if it was not airy and dreamy already.

It is the notion and movement in the house that also makes it a lovely design, the journey through the rooms and the experience and ambiance they give out.

Truly great design that inspires with its simplicity . Very personal and yet the nature loving side of it is admiring.

Style it: The Bedroom

Bedroom; the one place we chill and generally destress and recharge our batteries.
So if you are bored from yours or you just would like to add a personal touch to make it stand out even more and do the job of relaxing you properly, here are some ideas that do not cost a fortune.

Also some of my favourites. I will be glad to explain why exactly bellow.

              1. Get that view going.

It is great to wake up by the sunday's or the noise of the falling rain, pull up the
curtains with one move of your hand and stretch under the daylight.
                An instant natural body alarm.
Another great point of view could be gazing at the night sky from the comfort of
                your bed.

My favourite(1) I am a wood lover so naturally I am drawn to interior that consist of
it and a lot of it. It adds warmed and it gives me the feeling I am somewhere in a cozy
chalet in the mountains, or in the forest. Even better if the view I get is an actual
                mountain scenery.

Minimal, white... New York style warehouse apartment. So we have bricks
and wooden floor painted in white  with hints of colour here and there.
As you have also noticed the bed ( or the mattress part of it) is on the floor.
Modern, cool and easy to achieve as you don't have many colours or
materials to think about in terms of going together.

Rough concrete, wood and nature. I love this. I love the book shelving
and the books, the warm colours that contrast on the cold concrete,
the masculine yet gentle and warm feel of the whole setting and the view
                             that takes the whole wall.

Fireplace in the bedroom? Hell yeah..... especially in those winter months. What is also cool here is
the wooden platform on which the bed sits and the skylight on the ceiling that I am sure offers
great view of the stars .

A little more classic touch with symmetry that definitely pleases the eye.
It is like a little exclusive island you are entering . The island where no
drama is allowed and only good energy and vibes are tolerated.
And again wooden flooring and warm colours with the great window on top.

Platform that holds the bed is sure a thing, as we can see it again here. It gently
raises it offering a step or an extra shelf for your phone, book, water..etc. Love
the contrast of dark wood, pale white and the greenery from the trees outside.
I hope you too see why bringing your bed closer to your window could be a good idea.

Next two ones are very mountain like. I am not saying you should
immediately cover your bedroom with wood but a little piece here and there
could actually give you the same feel, if you are that sort of a person.
What I love in the two images above is the mic of different woods and
                              combination with contrasting bedding.

                 2. Ge that funky wallpaper on

It doesn't cost much and if you have a good eye and negotiating skill you can get
yourself with a good deal and piece that will make you dream...

Floor to ceiling piece of forest? too much, well maybe you can go for something
less forestry but you get the idea. I just love nature so I don't mind looking and falling
asleep to this view. Plus I love the colour scheme of the bedlinen with the copper
                 nightstand and the wooden floors.

Travel junky ? You like big maps on which you can plan your
next adventure? Why not do it from your bed, a perfect recipe for great
                                dreams at night.

Favourite (2) Ah Love this massive piece of art on the entire wall. I could almost picture
myself doing it by hand. Love the dark colours. Kind of like the hues of the night sky,
I would feel absolutely ion a mood to dive into this art and fall into my dreams.

You could also opt out for a block colour wall to contrast on your bed. As I told ya... I
love forests and nature general so this dark deep green is really by my liking, plus the copper
details, white and woods really stand out.

Or the classic dark grey ... favourite indeed. Great colour scheme too. You
can make it more girly by adding soft pinks or more masculine with the blues.
Better yet- B&W with a wooden ceiling.....just love how the wood adds an instant
                    warmth.

    3. White like in a cloud

You can never go wrong with choosing white, its pure, clean and gentle colour. Just Make sure
you are aware of its maintenance. One good thing is that you will discover marks and spots quicker

Favourite (3) Love this as it is super soft look but because of the wooden elements it is cozy too.
Notice how the colourful objects pop out.

Brick, wood and dark leather, when you go for white Interior it actually gives you
the opportunity to put the focus on your desired zones by locating them with some
colour. Example: The relax chair or my next day outfit stand, vanity corner, yoga
                               corner and so on.

                 4.Cleaner air, nature bond

Well, just get a nice plant of your liking there and make sure you look after it.

                             Favourite (4)

                                         5. Get brave with your "lights" game
I am very aware this is probably not a Gents thing
But hey a candle or two, some weird light can show
some character and bring you that muted sleepy light.
It makes all the difference, especially if you get annoyed
with bright lights after a long day.

Favourite (5) I absolutely love this one, I think it is my top
choice so far. I have always had a thing about attic
style rooms. The dark wall on the back resembles the nights sky
and the lights are like little stars. The scheme of the bedlinen is
super relaxing on the eye and the plants just make it more forest like.

Favourite (6) One word: Hyge Style.

                  6.  Pick up your bedlinen colours and material

I know it sounds spoilt but think about it, you are going to use them a lot so
why not pick ones you really love and find relaxing and soft.

I am curious to know which one is your favourite and why?
Would you combine styles and elements and how?

Mediterranean Inspo or just 'La Dolce Vita'

The famous Mediterranean region has always inspired me not only with food but with its tradition and culture too. The historic architecture is rich and offers many inspiration for interior design in terms of materials as well.

My first association when I hear of a mediterranean villa is Wood, stone and simplicity along with history. I love minimal design but it is always so interesting to me how it differs in the different regions of the world, mainly influenced by local's history and culture.

There is something amazing about exploring a new place and scrolling down its streets. It is addictive  as it is wonderful. It makes you dream and altered your vision of the world as you know it.

It is like being in an old Italian movie . You feel deeply  the essence of La Dolce Vita.
One of my favourite actresses I really admire ever since I have discovered Old Italian Cinema are Ornella Mutti and Monica Bellucci.

So I have a thousands word to say about these images but I would love to know what You think and how these make you feel. What do you like or dislike about the Interior or materials.

Wherever you are off to this summer, do not forget to fully dive in the locals culture.
My favourite thing is trying the local food and writing down some new recipes.
